What are no-drill fillings?
No-drill fillings treat early cavities without drilling, needles or filling material. At Trident Smiles Dental, we use Curodont, a drill-free Swiss treatment by vVARDIS. A traditional filling removes the decayed part of the tooth. Curodont helps your tooth rebuild its own enamel, so your natural tooth stays intact.
How does Curodont work?
A cavity starts as a weak, chalky spot where minerals have been lost from your enamel. We apply Curodont as a clear liquid to that spot. It soaks into the enamel and forms a framework that draws minerals back in from your saliva. Over the following weeks, the enamel repairs itself from within.
Who are no-drill fillings for?
Curodont may be a good fit if you have:
- An early cavity that hasn't broken through the enamel yet
- Chalky white spots on your teeth, including spots from braces or Invisalign attachments
- A fear of drills, needles or numbness
- A child or teen with a first cavity
- A wish to keep as much of your natural tooth as possible
No-drill fillings vs. traditional fillings
Both treat cavities, but at different stages:
- No-drill fillings work only on early cavities that are still within the enamel. There is no drilling, no injection and no filling material.
- Traditional dental fillings are needed once the decay has gone deeper. We remove the decayed part and restore the tooth with a tooth-coloured filling.
Cavity treatment without drilling is only possible when a cavity is caught early. Regular dental exams and X-rays help us find weak spots before you feel them.

We check your teeth and X-rays to confirm that the cavity is still early enough for Curodont.
Step 2: Cleaning the tooth
We clean and prepare the tooth surface so the treatment can reach the weak spot.
Step 3: Applying Curodont
We apply the liquid to the tooth and let it soak in for a few minutes. You feel no pain and need no numbing.
Step 4: Follow-up
We check the treated spot at your next visits to make sure the enamel stays healthy.
